Like many of you, I often start from the assumption that capturing interesting images requires a trip or a trek of some sort. Ironically, there are some of us leaving our neighborhoods and crossing paths with others on their way to ours. On this particular day, I decided to buck that trend and stay close to home… very close. Just outside my door is Boston’s Chinatown, and today a festival was being held. I grabbed my camera and took a short walk.
The first set of photos I captured were candid street photos. The lion dancers were rhythmic and beautiful. The street food smelled amazing. The senior community center singers reminded me of a Cher concert… lots of emotion, and costume changes!
Martial Arts was featured prominently at this event, with several schools demonstrating the skills of their students. The routines were held on a sort of plaza with the crowd gathered around them, so I was able to stand very close to the action. Very impressive!
