I’m not sure how Palm Springs had never hit our radar before, but I am sure glad it did at just this perfect moment. Palm Springs didn’t just give us one of our desired experiences, it gave us all of them!
I walked for hours one morning taking pictures of Midcentury Modern houses and hotels like the ones featured above – including #ThatPinkDoor and #TheSaguaro. We stayed at the very chic Avalon Hotel & Bungalows and took advantage of the on-property spa, and its proximity to the iconic Melvynโs cocktail lounge.
Joshua Tree National Park is a short drive from Palm Springs. The hiking would have been easy to check off the list there if the park’s staff were not off duty due to the government shutdown. But we stuck to driving the main road and we captured some amazing grand and stoic Joshua Trees and desert landscape . We knew the trip there was special when it began to snow as we drove through the park.
The Joshua Tree high desert also provided me the final experience from our list… music. We’ll cover that in another post!
