Twice this summer I found myself walking around Boston with my camera at night. No set agenda or target, just a walk with camera in hand. When I looked at the handful of photos from these walks, I realized that both batches were captured at a time that straddles the golden and the blue hour. I even used this site to double-check the dates and times. Yep, right on the border between gold and blue.
This time of day can also provide some nice man-made light, as signs, offices and cars come to life. I found an assortment of lights and colors looking over I-90. I chose to focus on the chain link fence which turned all those lights into a colorful bokeh backdrop. I am quite fond of the iconic “Boston Wharf Co. Industrial Real Estate” sign in Fort Point. I can see it from my apartment, so it was fun to take some photos of it just as it was lighting up for the night.
