Situated on a lake with the tents nestled in the woods, Huttopia is a great way to stay connected with the great outdoors even after the day’s hike has ended. They have a heated pool and serve home-made pizzas and crepes from an Airstream trailer. Pretty cool. There was live music one night to which we brought our own wine and beer to enjoy. That said, there is a small store in the registration office tent where you can procure an emergency bottle of wine should you run out (hypothetically). You can also purchase bundles of wood for the firepit outside your lodging.
I woke up early and ambled down to the lake for some photos. The sun was just starting to heat the cold night air creating a beautiful mist on the still lake surface. Huttopia’s canoes were not in use at this hour of the morning, so I employed one as a photo prop to catch the sun.
The universe sought revenge for my flippant avid hiker remarks… our hikes were long and tough. But there were some great opportunities along the way to stop for photos (and a breather), including some payoff shots of the valley below from the summit of our hike.
